Ahead of Diwali, over 470 kg unlawful firecrackers have been recovered from a godown in north Delhi’s Sadar Bazar space and the proprietor was arrested, police stated on Wednesday.
Accused Mohammad Rihan (21), a local of Uttar Pradesh, used to promote seasonal articles throughout festivals, they stated.
Police stated a complete of 472.4 kg of unlawful fireplace crackers had been recovered from the godown right here which was taken on lease by the accused for Rs 12,000.
According to police, Rihan had procured these unlawful firecrackers from Meerut in UP and was planning to promote it at greater costs in the course of the upcoming Diwali competition.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Sagar Singh Kalsi stated that on Tuesday, an data was obtained about storage and sale of unlawful firecrackers in a godown at Qutub Road in Sadar Bazar.
“When our police team conducted a raid at the alleged godown in Sadar Bazar area, we found the seller of illegal firecrackers Mohammad Rihan present at the spot with huge quantity of illegal firecrackers. On weighing the items, a total of 472.4 kg of crackers were recovered,” he stated.
A case was registered and the accused vendor was arrested, police stated.
Interrogation of the accused revealed that he offers in sale of toys for kids and likewise used to promote seasonal articles throughout competition interval, the officer stated.
